Relax and rejuvenate your body, mind and spirt at our private getaway, situated in the coffee-growing region of Quindio, Colombia. Listen to the crickets at night and awaken to the birds in the morning as the sun rises to spectacular views of the Andean hillsides. Walk through our native bamboo forest and down to a babbling brook, tour our organic farm and replenish your soul surrounded by natural beauty.
We have integrated the free standing cabanas within the landscape, putting the showers outdoors, such that the gardens are invited inside, and you feel surrounded by nature (only with the comfort of screens, mosquito nets and fans, to be used as desired

Our History
La Luisa was once a “slash and burn” plantain farm, which we have been lovingly restoring to it’s more natural habitat, using permaculture principles and organic farming practices. It is our goal to create a demonstration project for living sustainably within a precious natural habitat. We have planted a wide variety of native fruits (which you will taste at breakfast) and a large bamboo grove (guadua), which gently covers an enchanting pathway criss-crossing the hilly landscape.

The Meals (Breakfast is included)
The farm is in a quiet country setting, far enough away from the city that you do not hear traffic. Please know that you will not be close enough to easily walk to dinner- you must go by car. We can arrange a taxi to take you out to restaurants (the nearest town, El Caimo, is 7-10 minutes by car, 20-30 minutes on bicycle and 45 minutes–1 hour to walk), or Yudy can cook lunches and dinners for $45,000 COP per person per meal. (About $12 USD.) Yudy is a very good cook!
Home-cooked meals are available upon request. Please let us know at least one day in advance.
Location
We are located in Vereda La Pradera - El Caimo, in Armenia, Quindio, Colombia. About 20 minutes from the airport in Armenia and about 30 minutes from the bus station in Armenia. We are happy to pick you up from either location for $40,000 COP during daylight hours and $45,000 COP at night, the same or less than a taxi. (about $10 USD.) Just let us know your arrival time, bus company or airline, and where you will be coming from.
If you are arriving by car, please call Yudy ahead of time to guide you. It is not well marked and easy to get lost, especially at night.
If you give us your shoe sizes, we will have rubber boots for you to hike around our farm. There is a lovely bamboo grove with a path that winds down to a stream and small waterfall.
Money
The Colombian Peso has been averaging about $3,800-4,000 COP per US dollar for the past few years, but it does go up and down from there. Do check exchange rates before you arrive, but know that when you change money at the airport or the bank, or Western Union, you will pay conversion fees and/or get less than the official exchange rate, usually by about $100-300 COP difference per each $1000 COP.
We accept credit and debit cards, so please check with your card issuer about their exchange rate policy. In some cases, transactions are processed at or close to the official exchange rate. Yudy can also advise you on where to exchange money or find ATMs.
